Upcycling Foods

Upcycling is a movement that aims to take waste food into creating something new and nutritious

(KYMA, KECY/CBS) - In this consumer segment we learn about upcycling.

It is a movement that takes wasted food and converts it into new products in order to create sustainability.

One of these products include flour called 'rise.' Rise is a sustainable flour that contains protein, fiber and one-third of the carbs.

This type of flour was made by Bertha Jimenez. She used malted barley that is often thrown out after brewing beer.

More 'upcycling' foods will be coming to a near future and be on store shelves.
