It’s a case that has lingered in the hearts of Yumans for more than a decade; the murders of six of our own, four of which children. Since then a community mourned with the families and looked to law enforcement for justice.
For twelve years the Yuma community has been searching for the man featured in the artist rendering; the man witnesses say was seen near the crime. Years later, police identified Preston Alton Strong as a person of interest in the killings.
For weeks, we’ve watched as the trial against Strong would bring closure to the victim’s families and with little over a day to deliberate a jury returned with a guilty verdict against the man prosecutors claim committed one of the most heinous crimes in the state’s history.
Strong is now awaiting sentencing; currently he’s serving life without parole for the murder of a Yuma doctor.
