Phoenix police: Robbery attempt suspect in fatal shooting

Phoenix police say a street vendor who sold food from a cart was gunned down during what may have been an attempted robbery.

Police say 59-year-old Eladio Arrendando-Estrada was fatally shot Tuesday night as he ran from two suspects who’d confronted him in a parking lot in north Phoenix.

Sgt. Alan Pfohl says one of the suspects first fired one shot into the ground in front of the victim’s bicycle and then shot the victim when he turned and ran.

Pfohl says police are asking the public for information. The shooting happening near East Bell Road and North 26th Street.
