Suspects lead officers on high-speed pursuit

Three people were arrested after Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers chased a driver and his passengers.

Gerardo Garza, 39, Gilberto A. Rios, 19, and Abagail Venegas, 20, were pulled over by a DPS officer for a traffic violation on Highway 95 at mile post 30 on Tuesday.

Officers say the driver hit the gas when the officer was doing a records check on the car.

The driver allegedly took officers on a chase traveling at speeds up to 85 miles per hour.

The three suspects eventually came to a stop and were taken into custody in a residential area.

Garza is facing criminal trespassing and criminal damage charges.

Rios is facing three charges: aggravated assault on a peace officer, attempted robbery and unlawful flight from law enforcement.

Venegas was released, however, they may have charges coming their way as the investigation unfolds according to officers.
