Yuma: Search continues for stolen vehicle suspect

The Yuma Police Department said they are looking for a man who may have stolen a vehicle Tuesday morning before crashing into another truck and a wall.

Police are looking for 19-year-old D’Andre Jermain Norman. They believe he stole a red Chevy truck early Tuesday morning and drove it to Winterhaven, Calif. through the “Ocean to Ocean” bridge.

YPD said they alerted the Quechan Police Department and the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.

Quechan police then started pursuing the vehicle at 12:36 p.m. at a high rate of speed. QPD lost the truck on Fourth Avenue in Yuma.

Officers then spotted the truck again. The suspect hit another truck and also hit a wall near 20th Street and 14th Avenue.

Officers say Norman got away on foot. YPD believes the truck was stolen from a Hampton Inn in Yuma, Ariz. They said the ignition was left on. The truck is a newer model red Chevy truck.

YPD said there is an active search warrant for Norman out of Phoenix. The believe it’s the fifth vehicle he’s stolen. They also say Norman has aggression listed on his track record.
