Man behind deadly stabbing spree in California convicted of involuntary manslaughter

YOLO COUNTY, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - A California jury found the man behind a deadly 2023 stabbing spree guilty of involuntary manslaughter, but they found him not guilty of murder or attempted murder.

Carlos Reales Dominguez killed two men and seriously injured a woman in a series of attacks in Davis.

The defense never denied Dominguez, who has schizophrenia, committed the stabbings. At issue was his mental state at the time.

Jurors will return to the courtroom Wednesday for the sanity phase of the trial.
