(KYMA) - TIME Magazine has named Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) to the 2026 TIME100, its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

According to TIME Magazine, the list is to recognize the impact, innovation and achievement of the world's most influential individuals.

This comes less than a year after Sen. Kelly participated in a video urging military personnel to refuse unlawful orders.

President Donald Trump responded to the video calling it "seditious" and "punishable by death" while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth launched an investigation into Kelly in November of last year.

However, the senator sued the Pentagon earlier this year after Secretary Hegseth issued a Letter of Censure to demote his retirement rank and pay.

A federal judge, back in February, blocked Hegseth from punishing Kelly as well as a grand jury declining to indict Kelly and his Democratic colleagues for their participation in the video.

According to TIME Magazine, allies say the senator boosted his political standing as a result, and while he was on the shortlist for Vice President back in 2024, the Democratic Party is now openly discussing his potential in 2028 as either a presidential candidate or a future Secretary of Defense.
