Multiple people inside shot vehicle
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma police revealed there was some sort of relationship between the people involved in the shooting that happened in Yuma.
“The subjects were known to each other and the vehicle was occupied at the shooting," said Christina Fernandez, Yuma Police Department Public Affairs.
The Yuma Police Department (YPD) said the investigation revealed there were multiple shots fired at a moving vehicle near the intersection of 17th Street and 5th Avenue on Thursday morning.
YPD said there were three people in the vehicle at the time but is not sure if it was actually hit by gunfire.
“There were no reported injuries or damage in reference to this case," said Fernandez.
A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody and booked at the Yuma County Juvenile Justice Detention Center.
“There are no other suspects at the time, the suspect that was taken into custody is being charged on multiple felony charges including attempted first-degree murder," said Fernandez.
We spoke with a couple of neighbors off-camera who stated crime in the area has increased over the years.
This case is still under investigation.
