Semi-truck with furniture catches on fire
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A semi-truck catches fire Monday afternoon and there wasn't enough water to put it out.
A semi-truck with furniture caught on fire near the 16th Street exit on Interstate 8.
The City of Yuma Fire Department and Rural Metro responded to the scene.
However, fire crews had to wait to put out the fire due to not having enough water in their fire trucks and a hydrant wasn't close by.
City of Yuma Fire Marshal Kayla Franklin shared more of what happened at the scene.
“Well shortly after 1:30 p.m this afternoon, the Yuma Fire Department got a called on a semi-truck that caught on fire. See behind me, it's still on fire. We can confirm that there was only one occupant in the semi-truck and they are uninjured and the semi-truck is reported to be hauling furniture right now, that is why it is so hot right now," stated Fire Marshal Kayla Franklin.
It is still not confirmed how it started but the freeway is cleared for travel.
