Brush fire near westbound Interstate 8 burns about 72 acres
UPDATE (4 PM) - The first call came in about 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
A fire was seen for miles from I-8 I and the Andrade exit in the Winterhaven area.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is the lead on this fire at this time.
Earlier Tuesday, a few roads were closed including Winterhaven Drive from Quick Rd, and now all roads since have been opened.
The Public Information Officer of BLM confirmed the details and has a word of caution to residents in the area.
The fire is 50 percent contained and 72 acres of land have been burned.
There are no injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
UPDATE (10:44 AM) - Winterhaven Drive is closed from Quick Road through I-8 Andrade/Los Algodones Exit.
Fire moved north towards Winterhaven Drive. Still vegetation burning.
UPDATE (9:53 AM) - The fire is moving northeast.
IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Imperial County Fire is assisting with a brush fire close to westbound Interstate 8 near the Andrade Exit.
The fire is about one mile away from the Andrade Exit on westbound I-8, all freeway lanes are open.
The Bureau of Land Management and Imperial County Fire are at the scene.
No structures are at risk, there's just vegetation in the area.
