Cardinals start training camp tomorrow

The first training camp under the new regime in Arizona kicks off tomorrow

(KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Cardinals will kick off training camp tomorrow. This is another step forward in the reign of first year head coach Jonathan Gannon, as he tries to turn around a franchise coming off of a 4-13 season.

There will be a lot of new faces lacing it up in white and red. Despite the Cardinals having the lowest over/under win total (4.5) by most sports books, cornerback Antonio Hamilton has confidence in the group that first year general manager Monti Ossenfort has assembled.

"I think we have a really good group of guys," Hamilton said. "They are young, they are very bright. They are smart, they are athletic. So, that gravitaes us and pulls us all together because we are all going out there to get one common goal accomplished."

Over the next month, 90 players will be competing to make the final 53-man roster. With tensions for roster spots so fierce, the red birds will rely on veterans, such as Hamilton, to help the team come together.

"No matter what it is we are going to compete against each other all within helping each other," Hamilton said. "That is something that I am big on. I'm not one of those people who is like I'm not going to help him because he is in front of me. No no no. I am trying to help him give him everything I can give him so he can be the greatest possible player."

One player who will not be out on the field during training camp is Kyler Murray. The former number one pick is still recovering from ACL surgery. Veteran back-up Colt McCoy will likely be the man holding down the fort at quarterback, until Murray is healthy.

There will be 11 practices open to the public over the course of camp. The first is on Thursday, July 27. Tickets are free for everyone. Visit https://www.azcardinals.com/ for more information.
