Shakira, Madonna and BTS to headline 2026 World Cup Final Halftime Show

(CNN, KYMA) - The 2026 World Cup Final will have more than just some of the finest soccer players in the world as it will also feature music.

FIFA officials announced Thursday Shakira, Madonna and K-Pop superstars BTS will perform at the first-ever Halftime Show.

During a press conference Thursday, Shakira expressed her excitement over participating in the Halftime Show.

"Since I was 18, I've spent my entire life doing two things: Making songs, and building schools. So finally, during this World Cup, those two paths meet, come together, um, and I'm very excited," Shakira explained. "I've created the song 'Dai Dai' specifically for this World Cup, but also for so many kids around the world who don't have a voice and who are waiting for an opportunity, kids who don't have access to quality education, and kids who are being left behind."

The Final is scheduled for July 19 at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey.

World Cup 2026 begins June 11 in Mexico City and will have matches played in several locations, including the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
