A busy night for high school volleyball in the region

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Several volleyball teams from across the Desert Southwest were in action, with multiple programs earning key victories as the regular season continues.

The Calipatria Hornets improved to 8-8-1 on the season with a 3-1 victory over San Luis. The win moved Calipatria back to the .500 mark, while the Sidewinders dropped to 1-11.

Vincent Memorial traveled north to face Southwest San Diego but returned home with a 3-1 loss. The Scots now sit at 3-6-2.

The Yuma Catholic Shamrocks continued their strong season with a straight-set sweep of the Coolidge Bears, improving their record to 15-3. The Rocks will remain on the road for its next matchup against North Valley Christian as the team continues a challenging stretch away from home.

In another sweep, the Spartans earned a road victory over Calexico. The win marked the Spartans' ninth of the season (9-14), while Calexico fell to 6-13.

The Yuma Criminals were unable to secure their first win of the year, dropping to 0-8 on the season. Yuma will now turn its attention to Tonopah Valley, which enters the matchup with a 4-8 record and has not won a set in its last three matches.

In Imperial Valley action, Brawley defeated Imperial in four sets, 3-1. The Wildcats improved to 17-6 with the victory, while the Tigers fell to 14-9.
