Excessive Heat continues as rain chances continue to climb into the weekend

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - A ridge of high pressure will continue to remain strong
over the Desert Southwest through the remainder of this week, allowing major heat risks for the area.

Excessive Heat Warning will remain in effect and has been EXTENDED until 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Remember heat-related illnesses is possible, make sure to hydrate and reduce time outdoors.

An area of low pressure will migrate northward out of Mexico over the weekend, bringing significantly increased chances of thunderstorms and cooler temperatures to the entire area.

With the extra monsoonal moisture within the region, it will rise-up our dew points bringing in the humidity.

By Sunday, temperatures will cool down to near average temperatures.

Rain chances will increase for the Desert Southwest starting Friday night and chances will stay in the forecast until early next week.
