“Inside Out 2” tops $1 billion at the global box office

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - "Inside Out 2" has topped $1 billion at the global box office, pulling in $1.014 billion worldwide as of Sunday.

That's a huge win for Disney's Pixar studio, becoming the first movie to pass $1 billion in ticket sales since "Barbie."

According to the National Association of Theatre Owners, the movie reached the billion dollar benchmark "faster than any animated movie in history."

No other animated film from Disney's Pixar has generated more than $480 million at the box office since 2019, before the pandemic struck.
