Tiger Woods and Nike announce end of partnership

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - The longest-running partnership between Tiger Woods and Nike is over, according to a statement from Woods.

In a social media post, Woods said "Over 27 years ago, I was fortunate to start a partnership with one of the most iconic brands in the world. The days since have been filled with so many amazing moments and memories, if I started naming them, I could go on forever."

Nike and Woods signed their first agreement in 1996 and other agreements followed. The most recent deal was reported to be worth $200 million over ten years.

In its own social media post, Nike said "Tiger, you challenged your competition, stereotypes, conventions, the old school way of thinking. You challenged the entire institution of golf. You challenged us. And most of all, yourself. And for that challenge we're grateful. It was a hell of a round, tiger."

Woods has not shared any future endorsement plans.
