UPDATE: Bicyclist accident proves fatal; victim identified

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Police Department is still investigating a pedestrian-vehicle accident near 14th Ave and 12th street. Public Affairs Sergeant Lori Franklin confirmed that the bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was identified as Adelaido C. Robles. Robles worked at the local Arizona State Prison since 1999.

Further investigation revealed that the 59-year-old male was traveling southbound in the 1300 block of S. 14th Avenue. He failed to stop at a stop sign at 12th Street and was hit by a GMC Savanna van traveling westbound on 12th Street.

The driver stayed on the scene. We are only assuming that they are cooperating with the investigation.

Another source told us they saw Yuma Fire Department (YFD) performing life-saving measures, but the crew eventually just stopped resuscitating the individual.

There were no reported injuries from the driver, a 57-year-old male, of the GMC Savanna.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

Robles leaves behind 2 children, 4 grandchildren and a beloved wife.
