YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma High School announced they will have a science lab renovation project to improve and renew labs.
On September 14 at the Yuma Union High School District (YUHSD) Governing Board Meeting, Yuma High announced they will have their science lab renovated.
They plan to start construction on October 2022 and completing it by the beginning of the 2023-24 school year, one floor at a time will be renovated.
"Remodeling our science rooms will create modern functional spaces that promote student-centered learning,” YHS Principal Michael Fritz said.
YUHSD said in a press release that the new spaces will be more modern, open, college-like, large and flexible.
The outdated lab stations will become mobile lab stations and the student collaboration spaces will be shared to allow space for independent projects, small group instruction, student-led inquiry and student-led collaboration.
“It will allow us to use more student-paced activities and give students freedom to truly demonstrate their learning in multiple ways,” YHS science teacher Marelis Rivera said. “We will have much more flexibility and be able to creatively meet our student learning needs.”
