First Responders in East County receive a new life-saving tool
In cases where emergency medical care is needed every second counts
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Life in East Yuma County is quaint and peaceful. Many enjoy the solitude of living outside of the city limits where nature is just feet away.
But, in the event of an emergency time can be a dangerous thing. The time it takes for paramedics to arrive and the time it takes to get to the nearest hospital can be dangerous.
That's why it's instrumental for medics to react swiftly and maintain constant communication with the hospital. Thankfully, a new tool will make that easier.
The Foundation for Yuma Regional Medical Center has donated a new state-of-the-art cardiac monitor to Tir-Valley EMS.
Most ambulances are equipped with cardiac monitors, but this one relays the information to the hospital in real-time.
So, while the patient is being transported to the hospital the emergency room team will be receiving up-to-the-minute information.
Chief Richard Nix says without the aid of the foundation equipment like this would be out of their reach. Chief Nix is grateful for the foundation's continued support and is positive this new tool will save lives.
