Gym owner frustrated that gyms aren’t considered “essential”

The Complex Zoom fitness classes

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - After Governor Doug Ducey extended the stay-at-home order last Thursday, one local Yuma gym owner expressed his concerns as to why fitness isn't considered essential enough to open up the gym doors again.

The Complex Fitness Training Facility's owner, Doctor John Cook, expressed how important exercise and proper nutrition was to keep one's immune system healthy and thriving.

If the fitness training facility were allowed to open again, they have a protocol ready to go for its members to participate in when visiting the facility.

This includes masks if needed, cleaning stations, a social distancing between equipment, closing down every other equipment station, and being able to set up a specific time to go into the facility.

Dr. Cook describes the continuous closing of all gym facilities to be ignorant of the values they provide to keep one healthy.

However, they're still trying their best to help out their members stay fit, and that's with Zoom workout classes. Through the week several instructors offer different workout classes through the day such as HIIT classes, Yoga, Metcon, and Zumba.

You can find out how to sign up for these Zoom workouts on their Instagram account.
