PINE VALLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)-A father and daughter are arrested after Border Patrol agents found over 56 pounds of methamphetamine inside their vehicle early Friday morning.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection say a silver 2001 Infinit QX4 approached the I-8 checkpoint when a canine alerted to the vehicle.

The driver was sent to secondary inspection for a further investigation of his vehicle.

A further search of the vehicle led agents to the discovery of 39 plastic-wrapped packages of methamphetamine concealed inside three duffle bags on the backseat of the car.

The packages weighed 56.88 pounds and has an estimated street value of $62,568.

The man, a 42-year-old United States citizen and his 18-year-old daughter, were placed under arrest.

CBP says the drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration and the vehicle was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.
