Judge refuses to lower fugitive wife’s bail

A Tucson judge refuses a request to lower Susan Barksdale’s $1-million bond.

Barksdale and her husband, Blane , escaped custody while being transferred from New York to Arizona. They spent more than two-weeks on the run before their capture in northeastern Arizona on September 11th .

The couple faces murder, robbery and arson charges in connection with the death of 72-year-old Frank Bligh. Police say the Barksdales killed Bligh, and stole more than a hundred guns from his home before setting the house on fire. Bligh’s body has never been recovered.

Susan Barksdale went before a judge on Thursday to try to get released from jail before her trial. However, the judge refused to lower her bail. She’ll remain in custody.

Her husband also remains behind bars on $1-million bail.
