Major immigration deal could be announced next week

According to the New Yorker, an official from the Department of Homeland Security said the Trump Administration is expected to announce a major immigration deal early next week.

A draft of the agreement obtained by the New Yorker said asylum seekers who show up at the port of entry or are apprehended while crossing between the port of entry would be sent to seek asylum in Guatemala instead.

The New Yorker said the agreement would allow the U.S. Government to shift the burden of handling asylum claims farther south.
