Woman accused of trying to kill her partner still in custody
A woman who was arrested back in April remains in custody after she allegedly attempted to kill her partner.
The suspect, Traci Lynn Vanaken along with the victim, were present at the hearing where the victim told his side of the story claiming Vanaken had pre-planned his murder. Victim describes the night of the event in April as a horrific event where their children were present at the home and said if Vanaken was released she would be a danger to the community, himself, and the children.
According to court documents she faces charges for attempted second-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Vanaken’s lawyer asked the judge to decrease Vanaken’s bond to $25,000 and asked for Vanaken’s release to be placed in resident care for further evaluation.
The judge denied the lawyer’s request ordering the bond to stay the same, $500,000.

The woman that was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, Traci Lynn Vanaken, appeared in court Thursday.
According to court documents, Vanaken faces four charges that include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct, criminal damage, and attempted second-degree murder.
In court, the prosecutor said she is a threat to herself, the case is unique, and needs further evaluation.
Her bond is set at $500,000 and her next court appearance is Monday, April 15 at 1 p.m.
Vanaken was arrested after reports of shots fired during a domestic disturbance in one Yuma neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.
What started as an argument led to a gun being pulled and a single shot fired, according to Lieutenant Legros, Yuma Police Department.
Yuma police responded to the scene near 37th Lane and Victoria Way and said no one was injured. They added the bullet only hit a cabinet.
