Phoenix police ID man fatally shot after pointing gun at cop

Authorities have identified an armed man who was fatally shot after he allegedly pointed a gun at a Phoenix police officer.

Police say 43-year-old Eugene Horn was pronounced dead at a hospital after the incident early Thursday and a gun was recovered.

They say officers saw a pickup truck being driven at a high rate of speed with its lights off.

Police say an officer caught up with one of the persons who had been inside the pickup.

The man later identified as Horn allegedly pointed a handgun at the officer and was shot.

Police say another suspect linked to the speeding incident was located and arrested.

They say 24-year-old Calvin Mejia remains jailed on suspicion of felony murder as the death occurred during the commission of a crime.
