Yuma residents start feeling the effects of Tropical Storm Rosa

Flooded roads and fallen trees could be seen scattered around the Yuma area after the first wave of showers expected from Tropical Storm Rosa arrived Sunday afternoon.

Drivers were seen moving through flooded streets near 13th Avenue and 5th Street

“I’ve seen cars stalling. I was afraid I was going to stall. I’ve seen a few people pushing their cars back, trying to make it out this way. There’s just. There is no way,” said Paige Limbaugh, Yuma resident.

Residents also noticed several fallen trees around the city.

“I’ve been working here 25 years and I’ve never seen anything like this, at this magnitude,” said Josh Magna, a maintenance worker.

Magna was called to a clean up a tree that had fallen on a resident’s car. Luckily, the car only sustained a few scratches.

Sunday’s showers are not expected to be the last of the rain to hit the Desert Southwest. The largest rainfall is expected to arrive Monday night.
