Meet Yuma County’s only female tow truck driver

One Yuma woman has made it her mission to spread positivity to those around her by empowering woman.

Her name is Elizabeth Gullikson and she works as a pit steward at the Cocopah Speedway in Somerton. You may not know her name, but if you’ve ever had a flat tire in Yuma County, she may have been the one to help assist you.

Gullikson is a tow truck driver and known as the only female tow truck driver in all of the county. These are two jobs she knows aren’t typical for most women. She shares with us how the obstacles she endured never stopped her from striving for the best.

“If I had given up then, I wouldn’t be where I’m at now. I keep encouraging woman through everything that I’ve been through. To just keep pushing and to just keep going. You don’t have to live in those stereotypes. You don’t have to live in an office and be all pretty, like if you want to go out and tow cars or you want to work at a race track or you want to go fly an airplane, go fly an airplane. You can do anything it’s all achievable,” said Gullikson.

As a single mom of two boys, one of which has autism, she makes it her mission to focus on the good.

“Things will eventually get better,” said Gullikson.

A s for racing, she’s excited for the upcoming season at the speedway taking place at the end of September.
