Court set to review ruling on medical marijuana on campuses

The Arizona Supreme Court will review a court’s ruling that suggests criminalizing legal medical marijuana users who possess the drug on college and universities campuses.

In 2010 the Marijuana law approved by Arizona voters allowed cardholders to possess small amounts of pot, but prohibited possession in prisons, schools and on school buses.

Last April, the Arizona Court of Appeals struck down a 2012 move by the legislature to add colleges and university campuses to the off limit lists.

This ruling said adding the prohibition of pot on campuses violated the Arizona Constitution’s protection for voter-approved laws.

The ruling also in fact stated that colleges and universities can still forbid possession of medical pot under their own rules.
