Former Yuma squadron takes part in “show of force”
On Wednesday, former Marine Corps. Air Station Yuma F-35B’s now stationed at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan joined U.S. Air Force B-1B’s and Japan Air Self-Defense and Korean Air Force F-15’s. The collaborative effort came after North Korea launched yet another ballistic missile, this time entering Japanese airspace.
The jets flew over the Korean Peninsula and provided the north with a show unlike any other. The fighters deployed live munitions at the Pilsung Training area. The stealth bombers along with the F-15’s can all be armed with a variety of missiles including those equipped with warheads. If the F-35B were to be called to fight, it would be used to hunt down mobile ballistic carriers and other artillery targets.
