24th Street is officially open for use; Construction has been finalized.

The City of Yuma came together this afternoon to discuss the completion of the construction done on 24th street between avenues B and C.

Since September of last year that area has been blocked off due to changes that the city of Yuma wanted to implement. Part of the reason they wanted to re-construct the area was because of all the complaints they had gotten from the community. City of Yuma traffic engineer, Jon Fell said, “The asphalt was falling apart and there was alligator cracking. Consistently, we had a lot of service calls for pot holes.”

The city came together Thursday to not only discuss the improvements that have been made, but also new parking renovations at Yuma Valley Park. They’ve added right turn lanes at all the intersections and now have LED lights that line the street. The road will officially be open for use on February 10th 2017.
