Early arrival from Winter Visitors

it’s starting to feel cold and the snow is falling, and winter visitors are making their way to Yuma.

Visitors from the north region of the country and parts of Canada are moving before the weather gets stormy. Alice from Washington, left a little earlier than usual to beat the Polar Vortex weather effects.

“Washington where I live, in a little town called Belfair,We usually don’t get snow this early, usually it’s the end of January but right now we got snow the whole last week, so to get down here is wonderful.”

At the moment there are more winter visitors compared to previous years. Dustin Mylius from Yuma’s Visitor Bureau is excited about the impact it will have in Yuma.

“Oh it’s huge for our business that have to close during the summertime, the winter, spring, and even the fall season. All are significant in terms of getting business and being able to open their doors for a much longer period throughout the year, which is a benefit not only for the travelers but to our community.”

And for regulars like Alice from Washington, she thinks of Yuma as home. “Friendliness. It’s like a second home, everyone is really friendly with each other we all get along we all work together good we do all sorts of projects and it’s just a nice park.”
