Better Business Bureau offers tips to stay safe this Black Friday

Black Friday is right around the corner and the Better Business Bureau (BBB) warns the community about scams and how to take care of your money.

In three days millions of Americans will visit stores across the country and score great retail deals. However, the BBB advises customers to take precaution while at stores to avoid overspending and to avoid scams. One good tip for online shoppers is to check the web address, if there’s a letter that is backwards then it’s not safe to navigate or shop on.

“Create a list of things that you really, really need and also make sure maybe if you’re going to pay use a credit card, not a debit card that way if something happens it’s easier to retrace it and it’s not coming out of your account automatically,” said Janet Torricellas, BBB.

Another good tip is to carefully read store flyers before visiting the store to make sure deals are legitimate.
