CDC to appeal ruling to terminate travel mask mandate

(KYMA, KECY/CBS) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is asking to appeal the Justice Department's ruling of terminating the travel mask mandate.

The mask mandate was put into effect in February 2021 which had Americans needing to wear a mask when on public transportation.

On Monday, April 18, a federal judge struck down the mask requirements and resulted in masks becoming optional when traveling by airplane.

Some are against the decision and continue to wear masks while the CDC says the mask mandate is still necessary.
