Man charged in Foothills home invasion robbery sentenced to 7.5 years in prison

KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - One of the three men charged in connection to a home invasion armed robbery in the Foothills is headed to prison after pleading guilty last month.

22-year-old Korey Troy Gallagher appeared in Yuma County Superior Court on Tuesday, and with it came a 7.5 year prison sentence at the Arizona Department of Corrections.

His sentence stems from a home invasion in June 2021 where Gallagher, along with James Brazil and Christian Strangfeld, broke into a woman's home, displayed weapons and tied the victim up until she turned over some valuables.

Gallagher and Brazil were also accused of stealing the victim's vehicle.

About a week after the alleged invasion, YCSO tracked down the suspects and deputies say they served search warrants at both men's homes and found both the stolen property and the weapons used in the holdup.

Gallagher was originally hit with six charges upon his formal arraignment, including burglary and armed robbery in the first-degree, but five of the six were dropped within the terms of the plea agreement from the state.

In turn, he pled guilty to count three: aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

In the pre-sentence report, Gallagher's defense requested the term length to be reduced to just 5 years but the court ultimately ruled on the presumptive term of 7.5 years after taking the facts into consideration.

Gallagher was also ordered to pay the victim $15,000 in restitution in regards to the stolen items, which has been pushed off for 180 days before its addressed again.

As for the other two men charged in connection to this crime, Brazil and Strangfeld have had their hearings continued to next month.
