Tracking cool and cloudy for Labor Day weekend with a chance for some showers

Weather Authority/ KYMA

Tracking slightly cooler than normal temperatures for the holiday day weekend. We are also in for more clouds and some humidity with a chance of isolated and light showers being possible.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Today has been another fantastic day with slightly below-average and dry conditions. Great weather ahead of Labor Day weekend!

For the rest of our Friday, it will be wonderful, as temperatures will continue to cool down nicely along with dew points staying low and dry. We are in for an enjoyable Friday night to spend some time on the patio and outdoors.

For those in Imperial County, it will be a little gusty and dusty tonight, as I am tracking strong westerly winds and gusts between 20-30 MPH. Blowing dust is also possible.

I am tracking much lighter winds for the weekend across the Desert Southwest.

A current lower-pressure system is keeping our temperatures a little cooler than normal, but may pick up some tropical moisture from the south and steer into the Desert Southwest this weekend and next week.

TRACKING THE TROPICS: Hurricane Marie is still a Category 2 hurricane. Marie's path is still traveling west/northwest. Marie will continue to weaken in the Pacific waters in the coming days. Marie isn't expected to reach land, but may bring some tropical moisture to the United States for Labor Day weekend and possibly next week.

So no, Marie isn't coming to the United States, but may boost in some moisture from a far.

I am also tracking increasing cloud cover as we will have mostly cloudy to cloudy skies through the weekend. Humidity will also rise through the weekend, especially on Sunday.

As we look at our futuretrack hour-by-hour, our map is showing very little rain and storm activity for Saturday. But there are still slight chances for light and isolated showers being possible through the weekend and into Labor Day. Best chances are favoring in Imperial County and on Sunday.

Tracking slightly cooler temperatures, as highs will be in the low 100s. We will also have cloudy conditions throughout and increasing humidity. There are slight chances of showers through the weekend. Have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!

Temperatures will be slightly warmer at the start of the week, only to cool back down as higher rain chances increase on Wednesday and Thursday.
