Local motorcyclist dies after hitting guard rail
The California Highway Patrol said one motorcyclist died after losing control of his bike on Imperial Avenue.
CHP said an officer saw the driver of a motorcycle hit the onramp guard rail at Imperial Avenue and Interstate 8 eastbound Sunday at 2:06 a.m.
When the unit responded they found the motorcycle, a Honda CBR, on the roadway.
The driver, 33-year-old Cliff Contreras from Holtville, Calif. was found dead on the other side of the guardrail. Officers believe the impact caused Contreras to be ejected from the motorcycle. CHP said they found his body on the dirt berm next to the onramp.
Officers are still not sure why Contreras drifted off of the roadway.
The incident remains under investigaiton.
