Man arrested for stealing packages at UPS store appears in court
The man arrested after pointing a handgun at several UPS employees and stealing several packages appeared in court Tuesday.
Twenty-three-year-old Adrian Guzman was taken into custody after an armed robbery at a UPS facility back in May.
Guzman appeared for a change of plea and trial setting hearing.
Guzman’s attorney requested another week, after which the state said they would withdraw their plea agreement if more time was given.
His attorney agreed to the terms and the judge ordered Guzman to reappear back in court in one week for a trial setting and change of plea.
ORIGINAL STORY: One arrested after armed robbery leads to police chase
YPD said at approximately 8:25 p.m. on May 31, officers responded to a report of a theft at the UPS facility, located at 2851 S 2 ½E. Officers said during the incident a handgun was pointed at employees and the suspects left with several packages.
A pursuit ensued during which stop sticks were deployed in an attempt to disable the fleeing vehicle.
The vehicle stopped on the 16th Street exit ramp from I-8 where officers performed a high-risk vehicle stop.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle were taken into custody.
