Pence: Migrant caravan will not be allowed in U.S.
At a rally in Yuma Friday, Vice President Mike Pence told hundreds who attended that the migrant caravan needs to turn around and will not be allowed into the United States.
“Our message for those trucking north is very simple. Turn around. Return to your homes. You will not be allowed into the United States illegally,” said Vice President Pence. The caravan is filled with thousands of Central Americans seeking asylum.
Vice President Pence was invited by the Arizona Republican Party who hosted the rally at the Joe Foss Hangar, in support for U.S. Senate Candidate Martha McSally.
The Vice President’s speech also addressed the suspicious packages that were sent to the homes of several political leaders.
“We will never allow political violence to take root in America,” expressed Vice President Pence.
His words about immigration were met with chants of “Build the wall” from the crowd.
When Representative McSally took the stage, she echoed a message of love for the state of Arizona.
“I came to Arizona to serve in the military. Like many of you, I fell in love with this state. The people. The spirit the landscapes, the weather. Everything about it,” said Rep. McSally.
She also criticized her opponent, Representative Kyrsten Sinema.
Representative Martha McSally is vying for retiring Senator Jeff Flake’s seat against Democratic candidate Kyrsten Sinema.
The winner will be the first female to represent Arizona in the U.S. Senate.
