The Marine Aviation Tactics Squadron One provides a place for students, to provide standardized tactical training to Marine Aviation.
Each year about 270- student that through the program, later graduate.
The exercise offers various opportunities for students.
“The community and the training opportunities that we have here in Yuma are unique and that is part of why Squadron is located here, is because we have access to the best training areas in the country and that takes place to the North and East. We even have training that we have accomplished all the way to Utah,” said Harper.
Captain Harper also said that throughout his time at the station, there’s a sense of realism when training in our area.
“To be able to train in and around the actual city of Yuma, operating and landing at these various parks and schools that we’ve had permission. That offers an element of realism that is very difficult to find elsewhere,” said Harper.
The event is open to the public and will be held at Kiwanis Park this Friday at 4 p.m.
