Woman caught smuggling meth at Calipatria State Prison
Twenty-eight-year-old Kayla Annemarie Walker was arrested after attempting to smuggle 58.1 grams of methamphetamine into the Calipatria State Prison on Sunday.
Walker was visiting inmate Washington at the facility and staff observed she was acting in a suspicious manner.
Staff observed Walker walking over to another families table where an inmate by the name Villasenor was sitting and she proceeded to give Villasenor some vending machine food and walked away.
The correctional staff responded to the area and inspected the food items which led to the discovery of two bindles inside of the food.
The first bindle contained 28.0 grams of a white crystal like substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. The second bindle also contained 30.1 grams of meth and the combined weight of both was 58.1 grams.
The meth has an estimated prison value of $58,000.
Investigation later revealed that inmate Washington also had an involvement in the conspiracy to introduce the controlled substance into the institution.
Both inmates were placed in administrative segregation.
CSP said Walker was arrested and booked into the Imperial County Jail and is facing three to five years in prison if convicted.
