Anthony Hultine back in court
The man tied to an animal cruelty case appears back at the Yuma County Superior Court for evading police.
According to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO), Anthony Hultine was arrested December 3, 2016 after failing to stop at a red light in Yuma. After a short pursuit he managed to get away on his motorcycle. Police eventually caught up with Hultine later that day. He was released from custody shortly after on own recognizance, meaning no bond is posted. However, Hultine was required to promise, in writing, to appear in court today at 1 p.m. (MT).
This case will violate his probation terms and he could now face jail time, according to YCSO and the conditions of his probation.
He was sentenced to 36 months supervised probation in September 2015 after pleading guilty to criminal damage in the death of his roommates dog. He was originally charged with disorderly conduct, animal cruelty and negligence, however, those charges were dismissed.
The incident allegedly happened on April 26, 2015 in the 12600 block of East County 8 Road. Hultine took his roommate’s dog there after it reportedly made a mess. The dog was later found with gun shot wounds and fractures to its sinus cavity and mouth. The dog later died.
Hultine owed $1,866.19 restitution to the Human Society of Yuma, along with $821.71 to the Yuma County Health Department.
