Homeless receive care packages

Molina Healthcare is partnering with Imperial Valley non-profit Spread the Love Charity to pass out care packages to the homeless.

The event was on a first come first serve basis and they handed out 60 care packages…we spoke to organizers earlier in the day to find out was in these packages and the kind message behind them.

“We are going to be feeding the homeless community at Adams Park today at 6 p.m. Molina is creating 60 reusable shopper bags and we are going to fill it with items such as crackers, granola, drinks, water, juice, some blankets because it is getting awfully cold here in the valley, a towel,” said Alexandra Bravo, Manager, Community Engagement with Molina Healthcare.

Molina employees are taking part in this event as part of the company’s helping hands program, which encourages employees to get involved within their communities.

“Molina employees get compensated for going out and supporting the mission and the vision of our founder and that is to give back to the community,” says Bravo.

People are always welcome to get involved and donate or volunteer.

“Tap into Spread the Love Charity, they are here locally in El Centro. The immediate needs right now are men’s shoes, blue jeans, ladies and men, and undergarments.”

The event was from 6-7 p.m. and if you would like to donate items or volunteer to help the homeless you can visit www.facebook.com/groups/spreadthelovecharity/ for information.
