CBS 13 Sports: Yuma City FC win first home match

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma City FC opened its home field in style, cruising to a 5-0 preseason win over Armed Forces Yuma FC at Desert Sun Stadium.

Alexis Aguirre-Barrena got City FC on the board in the 19th minute, followed by a goal from Mauricio Salcedo in the 30th.

Yuma Catholic star Cade Garcia then set up Ernie Garza to make it 3-0, before Gio Ortega added two second-half goals to help complete the shutout.

Yuma City FC will now turn its attention to its inaugural United Premier Soccer League season, which begins September 19 against Next Level Academy at Desert Sun Stadium.

On the gridiron, the San Pasqual Valley Warriors remain searching for their first win of the season.

The Warriors fell to St. John Paul the Second Catholic 38-16 in Avondale, dropping to 0-2 on the year.

San Pasqual Valley will look to bounce back this Friday when the Warriors return home to host the Hopi Bruins from Keams Canyon for their home opener.
