6am Coverage

BUCKEYE, Ariz. (KYMA) - Fire officials have provided an update on the Hazen Fire burning near Buckeye Wednesday.

According to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management's (DFFM) post on X, the fire has burned 1,138 acres and is 45% contained.

DFFM is asking everyone, including drivers, to stay out of the fire area and to not go past closed signs, gates or roadblocks.

DFFM says, "Firefighters will continue patrolling contained sections of the fire perimeter and checking for heat near containment lines."

In addition, DFFM says there will be smoke visible as "the fire continues to clean up unburned islands of vegetation within the interior of the fire perimeter," and says APS has begun work to restore damaged power lines in the fire area.
