Captain Reyes DFFM

UPDATE (2:39 PM): According to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management's (DFFM)'s Facebook post, the Hazen Fire has burned 558 acres and remains 0% contained.

DFFM are asking drivers to find alternate routes and to not drive through the fire area along State Route 85 or Hazen Road, and says, "Non-emergency traffic is impeding fire response and suppression efforts" while law enforcement has been requested to help manage traffic in the area."

In addition, DFFM says, "Air Attack and a helicopter have been ordered to support firefighters on the ground with water bucket drops, primarily on the northeast side of the Hazen Fire."

DFFM also says a Temporary Flight Restriction has been implemented, saying, "Unauthorized drones and aircraft can ground firefighting aircraft and delay critical firefighting suppression operations."

BUCKEYE, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM) says there is a fire burning near Buckeye, Arizona.

According to WatchDuty.org, the Hazen Fire, which started at around 3 p.m. Saturday, has burned nearly 500 acres, and is 0% contained.

In a post on X Sunday, DFFM says the fire is under the command of their Type 3 Incident Management Team, and says "fire activity increased on the east side after the fire slopped over containment lines."

DFFM also says crews "also conducted burnout operations from the south/southwest corner along State Route 85, continuing north to the northwest corner of the fire," and says the efforts "successfully anchored the fire into the black, or already burned area, strengthening containment lines."

In addition, DFFM says as the temperatures rise Sunday, fire activity is expected to increase as well, and says crews will continue working along the "long the east perimeter with dozer support, while hand crews will operate near the bridge along State Route 85 in areas inaccessible to heavy equipment."
