Hazen Fire is 10% contained, burns over 1,000 acres

UPDATE (1:55 PM): According to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM), the Hazen Fire has burned 1,049 acres.

In a post of X, DFFM says, "Fire activity has increased this afternoon as the fire consumes vegetation within the interior of the fire."

"This behavior is expected and does not pose a threat to containment lines at this time," DFFM added.

UPDATE (12:25 PM): According to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, the Hazen Fire is now 10% contained.

BUCKEYE, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Hazen Fire burning near Buckeye, Arizona is remaining at 0% contained, as of Tuesday.

Firefighters say the blaze, which has burned 992 acres, is burning at the bottom of the Gila River, making it difficult to access while wind and dense vegetation, including salt cedar, are fueling the flames.

Crews are working to hold containment lines as the fire moves east, with additional resources ordered to help battle the blaze.

There are no evacuation orders or reports of damage at this time, though some residents may choose to leave voluntarily.
