New York judge dismisses state terrorism charges against Luigi Mangione, keeps murder charges
NEW YORK (NBC, KYMA) - New York state has thrown out some its charges against Luigi Mangione Tuesday.
The accused killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was in court for the hearing, where Judge Gregory Carro dismissed two murder charges related to terrorism, but approved murder in the second degree.
In addition, a crowd had gathered outside of the courthouse, with many wearing the Luigi video game character's green color as a symbol of solidarity.
Mangione, 27, still faces federal charges and other state charges in Pennsylvania, and he has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
So far, no trial dates have been set in either of those two cases.
