YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - Kofa High School's Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Drill Team won their regional competition on December 7.

The fourth Annual American Legion Post 255 Drill Meet took place at Sweetwater High School in San Diego.

Thirteen schools from California and Arizona attended the event, including Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy JROTC programs.

Kofa's win qualifies them for the 2020 Marine Corps National Drill Competition in Daytona, Florida.

This is the fourth year in a row that Kofa's JROTC Drill team has qualified for Nationals.

Both drill and color guard teams are coached by Marine instructor, retired Sgt. Major Colen Laarman, who is in his fifth year of coaching the program.
