Meteorological Summer recap and rankings 2025

Data and rankings have been released from NOAA for meteorological summer 2025 (Jun-Jul-Aug) for the United States. See where we are ranked for our average temperature and precipitation this summer.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - According to the latest NOAA data and rankings, the majority of the western and eastern United States was ranked the warmest this summer. Summer 2025, for the country as a whole was ranked as the 12th warmest.

Just focusing on the state of Arizona, all of Arizona ranked one of the warmest across the country. In fact, summer 2025 was the 3rd warmest on record (since 1895) for the state with most counties in the top 5.
While for us,  Yuma was still warm and above-normal, just wasn’t as hot like the rest of the state. Yuma was ranked as the 117th warmest for the summer.

As for precipitation, you can see the wettest areas were in the central and middle of the United States with Arizona ranked as the 12th driest. As a country, this summer's precipitation was recorded as the 44th wettest as a whole.

As mentioned before, statewide, Arizona ranked as the 12th driest summer on record since 1895. But good for Yuma County, we had a very wet late August, ranking Yuma at 117th wettest, which is above normal for our area. While every other county was below normal, Yuma was the wettest.
