NBC 11 Sports: McGalliard to step away from head coaching, YBBL All-Stars win again & two local boxers prepare for weekend matches

YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Catholic girls basketball will be saying goodbye to Bobby McGalliard after almost 15 years at the helm to take a lesser role and act as an assistant for the boys team.

McGalliard will now hand the keys to the program over to assistant coach, Chloe Roberts for the 2023-24 season after the Lady Shamrocks made a run to the 3A State Quarterfinals in his final year.

Meanwhile, summer baseball in Yuma is popping after the 16U Senior All-Star squad came away with another win - this time in the first round of the southern California state tournament after winning the District Region 7 Final earlier in the week.

They will take on round two against Canyon Country on Friday evening.

Plus, local teens Nathan Mondejar and Kain Anaya will hit the ring this weekend after their hard work training at Azteca Gym in Yuma.

Mondejar, 15, will head to Phoenix - while Anaya, 12, will put on the gloves in Las Vegas.
